"If it does you good, then come!"
(St. Francis of Assisi)
What might Jesus have prayed before He died on the cross? Maybe something like this:
"I am afraid, terrified, my heart is tight. I fear like a human.
I call out to the Father. But it was as if He doesn’t hear me, ... as it often is for people,
that He is indifferent and silent.
But I know He hears me and that I was sent to endure all this.
But I fear, human fear. Not death ... but the pain, the mockery, that I should come down from the cross, the helplessness, the guilt ... My God, my God, the sin of all Your humanity You have loaded onto me.
With outstretched arms I hang on the cross beam of the cross. How can any man endure this. I'm all pain and nothing eases my pain. My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”
With outstretched arms He gives His life for the world. Over! Out? Burial. Grave. Quietness. Gone...! The last farewell?
The grave is not the end, it's a beginning... a sign of hope
