International Women's Day

"Woman, great is your faith; may it happen to you as you wish" (Mt 15:28)... This is Jesus' praise of a Canaanite woman, when she shows confidence that God's love excludes no one. The woman left an imprint and an apprenticeship on the Master. Like her, many women throughout history have left a deep mark, bringing about significant changes in society.

Remembering:
March 8th is commemorated as Women's Day, to honour the 129 women who lost their lives in the USA for defending equal labour rights for women and men, but there were not only 129, but many more in the world who have offered their lives in defence of women's rights, giving way to the awakening of society regarding the important role of women.

That is why today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, we want to pay tribute to the many women that society recognises as fundamental to the dynamics of the world and their participation in the political, social, religious, cultural and economic spheres. Moreover, the tribute is for those mothers, sisters, grandmothers, wives and friends not recognised in society, who make the ordinary extraordinary.

You who are an example of courage, tenderness and hope, raise your eyes to heaven, to proclaim your Magnificat, like our Mother Mary, and thus thank the Father for making you a woman.
