Diverse assistance supported

It was a great joy to see Barbara Schramm, Head of Operations at the Bamberg Family Care Center, receive the cheque for 1000 euros from the Supporters' Association of the St. Francis Sisters.

This money will be used to support the work of the family care organization. Family care and home help are legally regulated services that are financed by the health insurance fund under certain conditions. If the conditions are not met or the approval comes too late, the gGmbH can bridge these gaps with the help of donations. The “Familienpflegewerk im KDFB gGmbH” in Bamberg is an institution of the Catholic Women's Association (KDFB) and offers help for families in particularly stressful situations, such as after an accident, serious illness, high-risk pregnancy, multiple births or psychological overload. The employees help when families find themselves in difficult situations and are no longer able to organize their upbringing and household themselves. The entitlement applies to the person (mother or father) who runs the household and brings up the children.

Holger Then, 1st Chairman of the Supporters' Association, emphasized how important it is to the members to support social projects. This is why they organize a bazaar every year at the end of November on the forecourt of the basilica together with the St. Francis Sisters and the Way Community. The proceeds from the homemade products sold there are donated to various social projects in the region and abroad to which the members have a personal connection. For example, the proceeds from 2024 were used to support the congregation's projects in Peru, India and Croatia as well as the Konradshof in Vierzehnheiligen, in addition to the family care organization. The proceeds also benefited a social campaign by the Benedictines on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, maternity homes in Tanzania, a hospital run by the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood in Sudan, the food banks in the district of Lichtenfels, the street ambulance in Nuremberg and the Sternenzelt children's hospice in Bamberg.
